We at River of Life Alliance Church take very seriously the call to evangelize the lost. One of the Alliance’s core values is that “Lost people matter to God, He wants them found”. While we believe that God is responsible for saving people from beginning to end, He has also commanded his people to preach the Gospel. We are responsible for the Gospel Call so that those who are elect might believe.
It does not matter if you are a stealth evangelist, leaving Gospel tracts around, or if you speak one to one with people, or if you are on the street corner speaking to crowds. What is important, however, is that you are sharing the good news wherever you are and whatever you are doing.
The other important thing is the message. While it is true that Jesus loves us, he will also be our judge. We are very guilty of breaking God’s law, so we use the law to ply the hardened conscience, and then we apply the healing salve of the gospel. As Charles Wesley put it- law to the proud and grace to the humble.
We think of it this way, a good doctor does not just give an expensive cure to a deadly disease without first explaining to the patient that he has the disease. The patient may be in denial, but a really good doctor will demonstrate the test results to the patient, and explain the risks of not taking the medicine to cure it. In the same way, we diagnose people using the law to show their sin before God, and when they are convinced of their need, then we share the cure of the Gospel.
Mark 1:15 Ministries is our evangelistic outreach arm of River of Life Alliance Church. Mark 1:15 ministries has four goals that it tries to accomplish as an arm of the church.
Our Jerusalem: Our church is in Marshall, MN, so our primary goal is to train up and equip people in our own church fellowship to evangelize those in their circles of influence. So, in addition to regular evangelism in our everyday lives, we also plan outreaches locally.
Our Judea and Samaria: It is our goal to train up other Christians and Churches in reaching the lost, so we offer training for churches and individuals in the mid-west. We want to see people raised up to fulfill the great commission all over our region. In addition, our team will regularly (as time, family, and ministry allows) travel around our region to evangelize and share our faith until such time as there are enough laborers, or until the Lord returns.
To the ends of the earth: We have been invited to travel to India, Pakistan, Africa, Great Britain, and Columbia. However, due to time and financial constraints, we have been unable to go overseas to spread the Good News. However, we support the Great Commission work of Alliance Missionaries all over the world. In addition, we are in constant communication with friends over the world encouraging and training via the internet.
Until the nets are full.
